Overview

Clever Girl Press is an imprint of Clever Girl LLC. This notice covers press.clevergirl.app. The site does not offer user accounts or process purchases. Newsletter subscriptions and contact-form submissions are handled by the service providers described below.

The web server necessarily receives technical request information needed to deliver pages securely, such as the requested page, time of request, browser information, and network address. Server records are used for reliability and security rather than advertising.

Optional analytics

If you select Allow analytics, Google Tag Manager loads Google Analytics 4. Analytics can then measure pages viewed, referring sources, approximate region, device and browser characteristics, scrolling, downloads, and outbound-link interactions.

When a visitor selects an Amazon purchase link, we send an event named select_retailer with the retailer, destination URL, and visible link text. This tells us which editions readers are interested in; it does not tell us whether a purchase was completed.

We do not send names, email addresses, payment details, or Amazon account information to Analytics. Advertising storage, advertising user data, and ad personalization are set to denied.

Cookies and local storage

The site saves your privacy choice in your browser under clever_girl_analytics_consent. This necessary setting prevents the banner from returning on every page.

If you allow analytics, Google Analytics may set first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_*. If you select Use necessary only, the site does not load Tag Manager or Analytics. Changing an accepted choice to necessary-only clears accessible Analytics cookies and reloads the page without Analytics.

Amazon, Goodreads, and other external services

Book-purchase buttons lead to Amazon, which operates under its own privacy practices. Clever Girl Press does not receive your Amazon credentials or payment information. Our analytics records only the outbound click when you have allowed analytics.

Goodreads review widgets do not load automatically. If you select Load Goodreads reviews, your browser connects directly to Goodreads, an Amazon service. Goodreads and its service providers may receive technical request information or use cookies and similar technologies under Goodreads’ privacy practices. The reviews appear in a restricted frame, and Clever Girl Press does not receive your Goodreads account information.

Retention and your choices

Google Analytics event and user-level data is configured for 14-month retention. Aggregated reporting may be retained according to Google Analytics settings and policies. Search-performance data linked from Google Search Console is available in Analytics for up to 16 months.

You can change your choice at any time. Clearing this site’s browser storage also removes the saved preference and causes the choice banner to appear again.

Newsletter, contact, and notice updates

Newsletter sign-up is provided through an embedded form operated by Substack, Inc. If you choose to subscribe, your email address is submitted directly to Substack and is available to Clever Girl Press in its Substack publisher account so we can send and manage the newsletter. Subscribing does not require you to allow Google Analytics.

Loading the embedded form connects your browser to Substack. Substack may receive technical request information and use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy practices, even if you do not complete a subscription.

Substack processes newsletter information under its own privacy policy. You can unsubscribe using the controls included in newsletter messages or through Substack. You may also contact us directly at hello@clevergirl.app.

We may revise this notice as the site changes. The updated date at the top will reflect material revisions.

Contact form and email

The website contact form uses Basin to receive a name, email address, selected topic, and message. Basin processes those fields to filter spam, deliver the message to Clever Girl Press, and make recent submissions available in the account dashboard. The free service is configured for 30-day submission retention.

The form uses anti-spam controls including a hidden honeypot, duplicate and email filters, and domain restriction. Basin uses technical request information during spam screening; optional submission metadata storage is disabled.

Do not send passwords, payment details, or other sensitive information. You can avoid the form and email hello@clevergirl.app directly.

A successful form submission may send an event named contact_submit to Google Analytics only if you previously allowed analytics. The event does not contain your name, email address, topic, or message.
